Israeli hostage deal, Sinwar, Gaza

The Last Resort: Israel's Surprising Proposal for Sinwar

Israel is willing to agree to the exile of Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar from Gaza, on the condition that all hostages are returned and Gaza is demilitarized, declared Brigadier General (res.) Gal Hirsch, the official in charge of prisoners and missing persons.

In an interview with CNN, Hirsch explained that this could only happen under one condition: "If all 101 hostages are in our hands alongside a complete demilitarization of Gaza, I believe we would agree to facilitate Sinwar’s exile and that of anyone he wishes to accompany him to another destination."

Hirsch also addressed the American efforts to secure a hostage release agreement, expressing gratitude to American officials for their around-the-clock work with Israel. He noted the obvious fact that the reason a deal has not been reached is due to Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar's refusal to come to terms with Israel.
