A research facility involved in weapons and chemical arms development was among several sites struck in a series of airstrikes in central Syria on Sunday night, which Syrian authorities have attributed to Israel. The attack left 25 dead and 43 injured, including Syrian military personnel.

Syrian media reported that Israeli fighter jets carried out the strikes, with Arab sources claiming at least 10 targets were hit. Saudi news channel Al-Hadath said 15 missiles struck in Damascus, Homs, and Hama.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, six rockets hit a research institute in Masyaf, where Iranian Revolutionary Guards experts are said to operate. The facility, a known producer of weapons for Iran's proxies, has been targeted multiple times over the years.

Syrian sources affiliated with the Assad regime and Al Jazeera reported that air defense systems were activated to intercept "hostile targets" in central Syria, with the strikes concentrated on the Masyaf area, home to a branch of the Scientific Studies and Research Center.
