Reserve Major General Giora Eiland, initiator of the plan to defeat Hamas and return the hostages, presents the outline of the plan, centered on stopping food supply, transferring the population from northern Gaza to the south through drainage channels in the Netzarim axis, and choking out the 5,000 terrorists remaining in northern Gaza.
Surrender or Die
According to the plan, all the area north of the Netzarim corridor, meaning Gaza City with all its neighborhoods, will become a closed military area that the entire population, estimated by the army at about 300,000 people, will be required to leave immediately through the IDF's secured drainage channels on the Tancher and Ifyon axes.
After a week in which the population will be given the opportunity to evacuate, a full military siege will be imposed on the area, leaving the terrorists in Gaza City with the choice - to surrender or die.
Eiland argues that Sinwar is not afraid of military pressure, but fears a governmental alternative and the existence of an angry mob that could overthrow him. The reality today is that Sinwar is not under pressure; Hamas controls the supplies that have been arriving since the last deal in quantities that satisfy the population and calm it.
Therefore, Eiland argues, in the first deal, SInwar demanded the increase of trucks coming into Gaza from 2 per day to 200 per day and prevented anger and bitterness of a hungry and angry population that would look for a governmental alternative.
