A preliminary inquiry by the IDF reveals that Hamas spotters near the six hostages who were murdered spotted an IDF force operating nearby, leading to the decision to murder the hostages, according to reporter Itay Blumenthal of Kann News.

According to the report, the IDF is generally careful not to operate in areas where hostages are suspected to be present, due in part to the Hamas order to kill hostages if IDF forces are seen nearby. However, in this case, the soldiers in question did not have sufficient intel and were unaware of the presence of hostages in the area.
