Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed deep remorse to the families of the six hostages murdered by Hamas in Gaza last week, admitting failure to bring them home alive.

Speaking at a press conference in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said, “I told the families, and I repeat it tonight — I ask for your forgiveness that we did not succeed in bringing them back alive.” He acknowledged the close proximity to success but ultimately fell short.

Netanyahu emphasized, “Israel will not let this massacre go unanswered. Hamas will face a very heavy price for it,” as he pounded the lectern in his resolve.
