Chief of Staff Visits Site Where Hostage Bodies Were Found

This morning, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzl Halevi visited the location where the six bodies of the hostages were found and returned to Israel by IDF forces.

The IDF spokesperson announced today (Sunday) that the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzl Halevi, arrived at the site where the hostages' bodies were located, accompanied by the Southern Command Chief and Maj. Gen. (Res.) Nitzan Alon.

The Chief of Staff met with commanders and soldiers on the ground, conducted an assessment, and engaged in planning for further actions.

As previously reported this morning, it was announced that the IDF and Shin Bet had located and recovered the bodies of the hostages Carmel Gat z"l, Eden Yerushalmi z"l, Hirsch Goldberg-Polin z"l, Alexander Lubanov z"l, Almog Sarusi z"l, and Sgt. Major Uri Danino z"l from an underground tunnel in the Rafah area during Shabbat.

They were kidnapped on October 7 and murdered by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Following identification procedures conducted by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Israel Police, and the Military Rabbinate, the hostage team in the Human Resources Division, responsible for assisting the hostages' families, has informed the families of the tragic news.
