Following the IDF’s announcement, the Hostage Families Headquarters shares details about the six hostages who were killed by Hamas shortly before IDF forces arrived to rescue them.
Ori Danino: 25, from Jerusalem. Son of Einav and Elhanan, the eldest sibling in a family of five children, and partner to Liel. He planned to start his academic studies in electrical engineering. On October 7, he was kidnapped from the Nova Festival, from the car he was driving as he returned to help others escape and find safety. Uri was known for his ambition, love for people, and was beloved by everyone. He had a passion for nature and was known for his golden hands.
Alex Lubanov: 32, from Ashkelon. Son of Oksana and Gregory. Residing in Ashkelon, married to Michal, with a two-year-old child and a five-month-old baby born while he was in captivity. On October 7, Alex was kidnapped from the Nova party, where he worked as a bar manager. According to reports, Alex rescued people and ran with several others in the Beeri forest.
Almog Sarusi: 27, from Ra'anana. Son of Yigal and Nira, and brother to Amit. A lively and bright young man who loved traveling around the country in his white jeep and playing the guitar. Almog was abducted from the Nova party where he was with his girlfriend Shahar. Shahar was murdered. Almog stayed with her and tried to help her when she was injured, and was then kidnapped.
Hirsch Goldberg-Pollin: 23. Son of John Pollin and Rachel Goldberg, and the eldest brother of two sisters. Born in the United States and moved to Israel with his family at the age of 7. Hirsch was a devoted fan of the Hapoel Jerusalem basketball team. He hid with his friends in a fortified shelter and threw grenades back at the Nukhba terrorists. One grenade exploded in his hand, which was subsequently amputated.
Carmel Gat: 40, from Tel Aviv. Daughter of Asher and Kinneret, who was murdered in the Hamas attack on October 7, and sister to Or and Alon. Carmel was an occupational therapist, full of compassion and love, always finding ways to support and help others. She loved traveling alone, meeting new people, attending live rock music performances, and especially loved the band Radiohead. Hostages who were with Carmel in captivity said she was a guardian angel for them, and to help them survive captivity, she led them in meditation and yoga exercises.
Eden Yerushalmi: 24, from Tel Aviv. Daughter of Shirith and Maor, and sister to Mai and Shani. A vivacious young woman surrounded by friends with many hobbies. She loved being at the beach on summer days, playing paddleball, attending parties, and studying Pilates instruction. On October 7, she worked as a bartender at the Nova party.
