IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi on Saturday evening declared his commitment to preventing terror from taking root in the West Bank, as the army continues its large-scale counterterrorism operation in the region.
The operation, concentrated in the northern West Bank, has mobilized hundreds of troops to dismantle terror infrastructure and uncover explosive devices planted along key routes.
Since the operation's launch on Tuesday, approximately 30 terrorists have been eliminated, with the Jenin refugee camp—a significant terror hub—being a primary focus. Palestinian officials have reported 23 deaths.
The IDF announced that Lt. Gen. Halevi conducted a situational assessment in Jenin alongside Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Blot and other senior officers. “We are dismantling the terror emanating from the refugee camps in the West Bank,” Halevi stated.
The operation, which includes Border Police and Shin Bet forces, has led to the destruction of dozens of explosive devices, with 14 terrorists killed in Jenin alone.
