Rafah: Militants Hijack Aid Vehicle, IDF Opens Fire

During the entry of a humanitarian aid convoy in southern Rafah, militants hijacked one of the vehicles. An IDF unit fired at the Hamas operatives without causing harm to the convoy. Following the incident, the organization 'ANERA' announced that its staff reached their destination safely.

The IDF reported earlier today that a coordinated entry of a humanitarian aid convoy from the organization "ANERA" took place in southern Rafah. During the convoy's journey, armed militants took control of a vehicle at the front of the convoy (a jeep) and began to lead it.

After the hijacking and further verification that only the vehicle with the militants could be targeted, an attack was carried out against them. There was no damage to the other vehicles in the convoy, and it reached its destination as planned. The attack on the militants removed the threat to the humanitarian convoy.

After the event, COGAT representatives spoke with representatives of "ANERA," who confirmed that all organization personnel and humanitarian aid workers who were part of the convoy were safe and arrived at their destination without incident. The presence of militants within a humanitarian convoy without coordination is against regulations and complicates the security of the convoys and their staff, thus undermining the humanitarian effort in Gaza.
