In Israel, preparations are ongoing for Iran’s response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Iranian soil. According to a Lebanese report, the attack is anticipated to occur within the next three days. Following Hezbollah's response to the killing of their military chief Fuad Shukur, Israel is bracing for Iran’s reaction to the elimination of Haniyeh.
The Lebanese TV channel MTV reported that military attaches from Arab countries in Washington were summoned by the Pentagon and informed of an imminent Iranian response against Israel, expected within two to three days.
The report also noted that American sources indicated the response would be limited and not likely to escalate into a full-scale regional war.
Earlier this week, Israel launched a preemptive strike in Lebanon against Hezbollah, which was planning to fire thousands of rockets at Israel. However, Hezbollah claimed that the preemptive strike failed and that the organization was able to hit several strategic targets in Israel.
