The director of Soroka Medical Center stated: “Farhan is the hostage who spent the longest time in captivity, and despite this, he arrived on his own feet with his condition stable.” Farhan al-Qadi, who was rescued from Hamas captivity in Gaza last night, was discharged today (Wednesday) from Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva after undergoing a series of treatments.

Yesterday, Farhan al-Qadi was brought to Soroka after spending 326 days in captivity. Upon arrival at the trauma room in Soroka's emergency department, a multidisciplinary team provided him with care: medical staff, nurses, a dietitian, and social workers. Farhan arrived at the hospital in a generally stable condition and is being discharged after undergoing medical examinations and treatment suited to his condition. His discharge to his home and family was a poignant moment, attended by the teams who cared for and accompanied him, and he will continue to receive medical follow-up in the community.

Professor Shlomi Kodesh, director of Soroka, said: "Since October 7, Soroka and the entire healthcare system have proven to be a symbol of unity, where everyone works together towards a common goal – saving lives. Farhan is the hostage who spent the longest time in Hamas captivity, and despite this, he arrived, to our joy, on his own feet with his condition stable. It is a great privilege for me personally and for all the teams at Soroka to experience these moments of joy and care for the hostages, and we pray and hope for the return of everyone."

Dr. Dan Schwartzfox, Deputy Director of Soroka, stated: "The treating teams had the honor of receiving and caring for Farhan al-Qadi, an extraordinary person who survived a long and difficult captivity. It was a comfort for the teams who care for the injured, the fallen, and the evacuated populations from the Gaza envelope since October 7 at 06:30."

Earlier today, journalist Amir Bar Shalom reported that the rescued hostage shared initial details about his experience during his captivity by Hamas in southern Gaza.

According to the report, Farhan had been alone in recent months; he estimates that he was separated from the other hostages towards the end of December. In the past week, Farhan was left alone in the tunnel with food and abandoned by his captors. During his time with the terrorists, they kept track of him, including in the last week. The investigation also revealed that Farhan struggled to recall specific timelines but mentioned experiencing a significant crisis after one of the hostages with him died. A phrase he repeated several times was: "You don't understand, there is Gaza above and Gaza below."
