Haredi Girl Dies in Car Accident Near National Park

Batsheva Esther Shimonovitz, an 11-year-old from Bnei Brak, tragically lost her life in a car accident near Gan Hashlosha National Park (Sakhne) on Monday night. The young girl was crossing Route 669 near the park when she was struck by a vehicle.

Emergency teams from Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived at the scene and attempted to revive Shimonovitz before transporting her to Ha'emek Medical Center. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following an investigation into the accident, Shimonovitz's body was released for burial. She was interred Monday night in Elad Cemetery. The ZAKA organization assisted the family with the burial arrangements.

Shimonovitz was the daughter of Rabbi Shabti Shimonovitz and was named after Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky's wife, Batsheva. Israel Chasid, a ZAKA spokesman, expressed concern, stating, "Unfortunately, we at ZAKA are dealing with tragic events throughout the vacation period. With greater awareness and preparation, we can prevent future tragedies."

The Israel Police commented, "An investigation has been launched into the accident on Route 669 near the Sakhne junction. The 12-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street at a point without a crosswalk. She was evacuated in critical condition to Ha'emek Hospital. Police officers and traffic investigators from the Northern District are currently at the scene and examining the details of the incident."
