This afternoon (Tuesday), President Herzog spoke with Farhan Kadi, a resident of Rahat who was kidnapped on October 7 and was rescued today by security forces from captivity in Gaza. Kadi is currently being treated at Soroka University Medical Center.

The President began with excitement and said, “Hello, dear Farhan. How moving it is to hear your voice! Our brother has come home. Our brother has returned!”

Farhan thanked the President and replied, “I thank the State of Israel, the army, for coming. People are suffering there. Do everything you can to bring the people back home. Work 24 hours a day, don’t sleep, so that they return. People are truly suffering; you can’t even imagine. Suddenly I hear someone speaking Hebrew outside the door, I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe it. I thank you very much. It’s thanks to our army; they are doing holy, sacred work, risking their lives. Thank you very much, Mr. President.”

The President responded, “You went through hell there, I understand; it’s hard. The most important thing is to bring everyone back. Thank God you returned, now you see your entire extended family. We are very, very proud of the army, the Shin Bet, and all the forces that took part in this amazing operation. There are still so many brothers and sisters there; we want everyone back home. All of Israel is with us. The whole country, the entire state. Welcome home, dear brother. Good health.”
