Egypt: No to any Israeli presence in Rafah or along Philadelphi corridor

This stance is emerging as Egypt's red line, just as Prime Minister Netanyahu insists on the opposite as a red line for any deal.

A "high level" Egyptian source told state media channel al-Qahera that Egypt remains adamantly opposed to any Israeli presence at Rafah crossing or the Phildelphi Corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border.

This stance comes as Prime Minister Netanyahu insists on the opposite - an Israeli presence at both - as a condition for any hostage or ceasefire deal.

The IDF has also been working to find and destroy all the tunnels along the Corridor, including tunnels said to go into Egypt and which serve for smuggling purposes, including weapons.
