Against the backdrop of strained relations between the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister, Netanyahu will hold a security consultation tonight without Gallant. The meeting is set to include ministers Levin, Dermer, and Katz, according to a report by News 12’s Dafna Liel.

As reported ten days ago, during a Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee discussion, Defense Minister Gallant criticized the Prime Minister, saying: “I hear all the heroes with the drums, ‘total victory’ and that kind of nonsense. I saw courage when it came to the discussion. I am ready to confront facts and actions. Maybe I am weak in media and politics, but in security, I know what I am saying. Today we are in a completely different situation than when I insisted on an attack in the north, which the entire security establishment supported.”

In response to these remarks, the Prime Minister's Office stated: “When Gallant adopts an anti-Israeli narrative, he undermines the chances of reaching a deal for the release of the hostages. It would be more appropriate for him to attack Sinwar, who refuses to send a delegation for negotiations and remains the only obstacle to a hostage deal.

Israel has only one choice: to achieve a complete victory, which means the elimination of Hamas's military and governing capabilities, and the release of our hostages – and this victory will be achieved.” They added: “This is the clear directive from Prime Minister Netanyahu and the cabinet, and it is binding on everyone – including Gallant. Complete victory also requires Gallant’s commitment.”
