According to a report by Maariv, an Israeli source confirmed that discussions are ongoing: "There is a behind-the-scenes dialogue with the Americans regarding Sinwar's demand for guarantees and assurances that he will not become a target for elimination if the agreement is achieved."
Meanwhile, two unnamed sources told the American news site Politico that "the negotiations to end the war in the Gaza Strip are on the brink of collapse – and there is no immediate or clear alternative agreement to propose."
According to the sources, the current proposal, formulated by the US, Israel, and the mediators Egypt and Qatar, is the "strongest format" of the deal so far, as it includes terms tailored to the demands of both Israel and Hamas. The report states that Israel has signed the proposal, while the terrorist organization has declared that it will not agree to the deal.
