Haredi drafting, Conscription law

Recruitment Failure: Seven Haredim Reported to the Recruitment Office in Jerusalem

Despite the issuance of hundreds of recruitment orders, only 70 Haredi recruits have reported for initial enlistment procedures so far. The IDF has begun sending second summonses to those who have not yet reported.

Amid the severe protests at the recruitment office in Jerusalem, Haredi recruits were summoned today (Wednesday) to complete their initial enlistment procedures at the office. Out of the hundreds summoned, only seven recruits showed up.

The IDF reports that, since the beginning of the summonses, approximately 70 recruits have completed their procedures. For those who have been summoned but did not report, second summonses are being issued to complete the enlistment process. If necessary, the recruitment process will continue according to the law until a recruitment order is issued.

Meanwhile, this morning in Jerusalem, dozens of extreme Haredim disrupted public order in protest near the recruitment office. The police noted that the protesters used, among other things, iron mesh fences intended to enclose public gardens, which they threw. Additionally, clashes occurred with police and Border Police forces, including verbal abuse where protesters called the officers "Nazis" and "scum," among other insults. There were also attempts to breach the police barriers towards the recruitment office and to block Jaffa Street.

After a police officer declared to the protesters that the demonstration was illegal due to their actions, the police began pushing them to the sides of the street and removing them from the surrounding area.
