Following the escalation in the north, during which the terrorist organization Hezbollah fired a barrage of 50 rockets at Katzrin, damaging several buildings, Lebanese officials believe that a comprehensive conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is imminent.
Lebanese legislator Marwan Hamadeh said in an interview with Lebanese media, "I have information from sources directly involved in the negotiations indicating that a war will occur within hours or days."
Earlier today, the IDF announced that Air Force aircraft targeted the terrorist Khalil Hussein Khalil al-Makdah in the Sidon area of southern Lebanon.
Khalil is the brother of Munir al-Makdah, a Lebanese resident working for Hezbollah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, who continues to attempt to advance attacks. The two work together in the service of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and are involved in directing attacks and transferring funds and weapons to terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria. In March 2024, weapons smuggled into Judea and Samaria were revealed, having been transferred to cells recruited and directed by Khalil and Munir al-Makdah's terrorist network in Lebanon.
The IDF notes that the individuals responsible for carrying out the weapon transfers to Israel and directing the attacks are Iranian operatives, led by Jawad Ghafari, head of Division 4000, the special operations division of the Revolutionary Guards' intelligence organization, and Asghar Bakri, commander of Unit 840, the special operations unit of the Quds Force.
