Following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, Palestinians report that seven individuals who worked as bodyguards and escorts for Haniyeh were killed in Gaza.

According to reports, these seven individuals were killed in an airstrike near Haniyeh’s home in the Shati refugee camp in the western part of Gaza City.

It is noteworthy that after Haniyeh was killed during a visit to Iran, Abdul Salam Haniyeh, the son of the slain Hamas leader, confirmed in an interview with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Arabiya channel that his father was targeted by a missile through his mobile phone. He stated, "It was a guided missile that tracked his mobile phone, which he left in his room next to his head at night and was hit directly." He denied the presence of an explosive device. The son further emphasized: "There were bodyguards and additional advisors in a room a few meters away, so if there had been an explosive device, the entire place would have been blown up."

He explained that his father "was in Iran to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Masoud Pashkian, along with other delegations, so the security measures cannot be compared to those taken in a concealed location without mobile phones," and revealed that Haniyeh had been using his phone continuously that day.
