Igbaria, who previously headed the Hostages and Missing Persons Division at the Mossad, comments on the resumption of talks in Qatar aimed at reaching an agreement and says that Sinwar is not interested in a deal.
In an interview with Radio Gali Israel, Igbaria stated that Sinwar is not interested in a deal because his grand plan is nearing realization: "In Sinwar’s eyes, it would be ideal if a regional war breaks out, aligning all the stars in his favor."
He explained: "On one hand, the regional war he anticipated is imminent. On the other hand, the Americans and mediators, who have formed a coalition to pressure Israel to halt the war, are talking about even imposing a weapons embargo on Israel. Meanwhile, within Israel, the issue of the hostages serves his purpose. Therefore, in my opinion, he has no interest in reaching a deal."
Igbaria continued, "Additionally, if we look at the American production that took place in Doha, it’s like the relatives and guests have arrived at the wedding, the groom is present, but the bride is missing. The bride’s demands are like those of a 'cannibalistic bride,' and given the situation, unfortunately, there is no deal in sight."
