A Palestinian laborer who works in the Brown industrial area in Samaria attacked a 35-year-old security guard today (Sunday), stole the gun he was carrying and fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

The wounded man was taken in a military ambulance to receive treatment at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, from where it was reported that his condition is critical and that the doctors are fighting for his life.

An initial report indicates that the attack was carried out with a hammer. Karin Moskovitz, manager of MDA's Samaria station, said that "the wounded man is sedated and ventilated and suffers from a head injury."

Both Israelis and Palestinians work in the industrial area. The Palestinians are allowed to work under strict supervision and security procedures. The IDF spokeswoman said that forces are in pursuit of the terrorist.

Residents of Kedumim were instructed to stay in their homes following the incident. "Due to a security incident near the settlement, you must enter the houses and lock the doors and windows. Do not walk around the streets and do not go out on the roads in the area. You should contact the hotline only for emergency reports," the residents of Kedumim were told.
