Foreign Minister Katz: Iran is creating a new threat on Israel's eastern border

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz described Iran's efforts to smuggle weapons and funds from Jordan to terrorists in Judea and Samaria, who then carry out attacks in central Israel.

Katz detailed how Iran is working to establish a new eastern front of terror against Israel’s major population centers.

"Iran is orchestrating a serious and dangerous situation by collaborating with Hamas operatives in Lebanon to funnel weapons and funds into Jordan, with the goal of destabilizing the regime there," Katz said.

"These weapons are then smuggled across the eastern border, flooding Judea and Samaria, especially refugee camps, with dangerous arms and significant amounts of money. The objective is to build a pro-Iranian Islamic terror front similar to what has been established in Gaza, Lebanon, and other regions, targeting Tel Aviv and other major Israeli cities," he continued.

Katz emphasized, "The Iranian axis of evil now effectively controls refugee camps in Judea and Samaria through its proxies, leaving the Palestinian Authority unable to respond."

He called for a decisive operational campaign to dismantle the terror infrastructure in areas like the Jenin refugee camp. Katz also stressed that halting the spread of Iran’s influence is a common interest of Israel, many regional states, and the global community.

He added that speeding up the construction of the eastern barrier along the Jordanian border is crucial to prevent weapon smuggling that threatens both Jordan and Israel.
