Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to address the UN General Assembly in New York later this month, according to Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador-designate to the UN, who spoke with the Jerusalem Post.
Danon, who is scheduled to present his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres next week, confirmed that Netanyahu is slated to speak on either September 26 or 27.
Danon noted, “We are laying the groundwork for the prime minister’s visit. While we can’t predict what might happen in Israel, the plan is for him to speak before the General Assembly.” He also mentioned that the upcoming session will heavily focus on the Palestinian issue.
Throughout his nearly 17-year tenure as prime minister, Netanyahu has frequently used the General Assembly as a key platform to articulate Israel’s stance on global issues. This speech will follow a recent high-profile address he gave to a special joint session of Congress last month.
