Israel’s universities have once again demonstrated their global academic prowess in the esteemed Shanghai Ranking, one of the most influential university assessments worldwide.

Three Israeli institutions—Weizmann Institute of Science, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Technion—are featured among the top 100 globally. The Weizmann Institute led the pack, securing the 69th position, a slight drop from last year's 68th. Hebrew University improved its standing, moving from 86th to 81st place, while the Technion fell from 79th to 85th, swapping places with Hebrew University. Notably, the Technion also achieved 11th place among the world’s top technological universities.

The Shanghai Ranking, which has been published annually since 2003, evaluates over 2,500 institutions based on criteria such as Nobel and Fields Medal laureates, influential scientific publications, and overall research performance, highlighting the top 1,000 universities.
