Will Iran Forego Revenge? The New Proposal Presented to Iran

According to a report in the pro-Qatari newspaper, a new proposal has been presented to Iran by Western officials. This proposal suggests that Iran refrain from responding to the recent assassinations in Tehran and Beirut, in exchange for Israel agreeing to a comprehensive deal with Hamas to end the fighting.

The pro-Qatari newspaper "Al-Araby Al-Jadeed" reports that Western officials have proposed to pro-Iranian figures that Iran and Hezbollah refrain from retaliation for the assassinations of Ismail Haniyeh and Fuad Shukur. In return, a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip would be established, including a sustainable calm, prisoner exchanges, expanded humanitarian aid, and the withdrawal of IDF forces from Gaza.

The report indicates that this proposal is being considered by Western and Arab officials with close connections to both sides in the conflict.

Simultaneously, after Iran's President urged Khamenei to avoid retaliating against Israel for Haniyeh's assassination, U.S. officials estimate that Iran is reconsidering its response, according to a report this morning by Galatz's Barak Batz. The report states that while an Iranian response is expected, it is not anticipated in the immediate future.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Netanyahu and French President Emmanuel Macron spoke yesterday. Macron urged Netanyahu to avoid escalating the regional conflict and to refrain from retaliatory actions that could threaten regional stability.
