The IDF spokesperson confirmed that on that day, terrorists fired at the Bekaot settlement, located in the Bekaot and Valleys Brigade area. Field assessments indicated that the assailants attempted to lure IDF forces into a side route from which they then escaped. As a result, soldiers set up an ambush to thwart the terrorists in the area, and the region was closed to traffic.
Later in the day, soldiers from Unit 636, who were in an ambush, eliminated an armed terrorist who was planning to shoot at the settlement. Subsequently, the area was closed until it was cleared, due to fears of additional attacks and explosives on the side route.
Earlier today (Wednesday), the IDF conducted searches near the shooting area to eliminate further threats in the vicinity. During the searches, engineering and tracking units from the Bekaot and Valleys Brigade located and destroyed four explosive devices and additional electronic devices that had been planted. No injuries were reported among the soldiers.
