According to the state’s submission, 28 terrorists, classified as high-risk, are currently detained at Sde Teiman. Adapting the base for detention purposes has cost NIS 44 million.
The response also revealed that many terrorists had previously been released due to a shortage of prison space. The State Attorney's office informed the High Court that arrangements have been made for the terrorists to sleep on mattresses placed on the ground and provided with blankets as needed, based on weather conditions, Israel National News reports reveal.
The detainees are allowed seven hours of sleep per night and receive three meals a day. The High Court was assured that the prisoners have never been deprived of food and have constant access to drinking water.
Starting tomorrow, the detainees will also have the opportunity to walk in the base's courtyard under strict security measures.
