Israeli Spokesperson David Mencer said at an online press conference today (Wednesday) that Israel is not commenting on the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

No official statement has come from either Prime Minister Netanyahu or Defense Minister Gallant regarding the event, which has caused much comment and in some places condemnation around the world.

Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guards issued a second statement today regarding the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran earlier this morning, condemning the "criminal and cowardly" strike in the "strongest terms," according to Iran state media IRNA.

The statement also said that "the assassination was an attempt by the Israeli regime to cover up its utter failures in more than nine months of war in Gaza which has left tens of thousands of women, men, and children dead."
