Veteran Analyst: How to Tell if the IDF's Response is Serious

Journalist and Middle East expert Yoni Ben Menachem offers a sign to help Israeli citizens determine whether Israel's attack on Lebanon will be significant: "Don't embarrass us in the Arab world, Bibi."

Yoni Ben Menachem addresses reports of preparations for an Israeli strike on Lebanon and suggests that he doubts Israel will take a significant action.

However, Ben Menachem provides a way to assess if Israel's response will be substantial: "How will you know if the IDF's response in Lebanon is serious?" Ben Menachem explains, "When you hear that many Hezbollah operatives have been killed. If the IDF targets empty facilities and structures, it means we haven't done much. Unfortunately, I don't trust the failing leadership of the IDF."

He further wrote, "The greatest danger would be if the IDF responds to the massacre in Majdal Shams by bombing empty Hezbollah buildings and facilities just to tick a box. That would be another mistake that would further erode deterrence. Don’t embarrass us in the Arab world, Bibi."
