University of Haifa evacuates upper floors of iconic tower as Northern tensions escalate

Amid rising tensions along Israel's northern border, the University of Haifa has taken unprecedented safety measures, including partial evacuation of its landmark Eshkol Tower.

In a move reflecting heightened regional tensions, the University of Haifa has implemented temporary emergency protocols for the coming days. The decision comes in response to growing concerns among staff and students, despite the city's location south of the "confrontation line" bordering Lebanon.

The university administration emphasized that most activities, including summer semester exams, will proceed as usual. They are approaching the situation with a day-by-day assessment, indicating the fluid nature of the current circumstances.

In a gesture of solidarity, the university leadership extended special condolences to Haifa's Druze student population this morning, acknowledging the community's unique position in the ongoing situation.

Meanwhile, the nearby Technion - Israel Institute of Technology reports no changes to its operations. The institution, still in its spring semester due to a delayed start to the academic year, continues its regular activities.
