Sergeant Yonatan Aharon Greenblatt succumbs to injuries from Gaza attack

The 21-year-old Beit Shemesh native, critically injured by an anti-tank missile in Rafah on July 20, has passed away. His death brings the total military casualties to 689 in the current war.

The IDF spokesman this morning (Sunday) allowed for publication that Sergeant Yonatan Aharon Greenblatt, 21, from Beit Shemesh, died last night of his wounds after being injured in a battle in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip on July 20. He will be laid to rest at 3:30 PM in the military cemetery in Har Herzl.

Greenblatt, a fighter in the Shaked Battalion in the Givati ​​Brigade, was seriously injured by an anti-tank missile which hit the building he was staying in Rafah. The Beit Shemesh Municipality said that he had been fighting for his life for the past week.

Greenblatt was a graduate of the Neve Dekalim hesder yeshiva, and the Beit Shemesh Municipality said that they send their condolences to his parents and the entire family.

"The residents of the city of Beit Shemesh bow their heads and salute the hero of Israel, Sergeant Yonatan Aharon Greenblatt, the hero of Israel who gave his life for our people and our homeland...The municipality of Beit Shemesh will continue to support the Greenblatt family," Mayor Shmuel Greenberg said.
