Israeli Spokesperson David Mencer said that the relationship between Israel and the United States is "bigger than any one person" in response to a JFeed question as to how Prime Minister Netanyahu feels about Vice President Kamala Harris' planned absence from his speech to Congress today (Wednesday).
While Vice Presidents traditionally preside over speeches by foreign leaders in Congress, including Harris, the Vice President claimed a scheduling conflict requiring her to be absent. Other Democrats are openly boycotting the speech on various grounds, including Congressman Jerry Nadler and Senator Chris Van Hollen.
Mencer said in response that the Prime Minister is meeting with Vice President Harris Thursday afternoon after meeting with President Biden that day.
He also said that the US-Israel relationship is "bigger than any one person" and has been bipartisan from the start, mentioning Democratic President Truman's support for the country when it was founded.
He also said that Israel will work with whoever the American People elect in November based on their shared values of democracy and liberty and against their shared enemy - Iran and its proxies.
