In an interview with Ynet News, Israel Beitenu chairman Avigdor Lieberman warns that "the enemies in the various arenas are trying to exhaust the IDF", and claims that Iran is "conducting a large and complex military exercise in the area near the border with Syria".
Lieberman, who apparently spoke with senior officials who outlined the situation for him, said that "the enemies in the various arenas that are currently operating are trying to wear out the IDF, and to drag out time until Iran succeeds in deploying its nuclear umbrella."
Lieberman issued similar warnings prior to October 7, as in the warning document he submitted to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in 2016.
"For the Prime Minister's attention," Lieberman said. "Iran is conducting a large military exercise in Syria, which is being held in an area near the Iraqi border. This is an exercise by pro-Iranian militias with the presence of senior officials from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. This is one of the largest exercises that has taken place on behalf of these forces in Syria. The training also includes the use of UAVs."
According to him, this is an exercise that will continue for several days and will spread to other areas in Syria, while supply convoys from Iraq will enter to support the exercise. "I hope that our security system is also aware of these events and is following them carefully," he said.
