Minister of Energy Eli Cohen from the Likud party addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trip to the United States this evening, and identified the point at which Israel is expected to reach a deal with the captives.
In an interview with Channel 12 News, Cohen said, "I estimate that within two weeks we will be able to reach a deal with the captives." Regarding the protest of the families of the captives who called on Netanyahu not to fly before declaring support for the deal, Cohen said, "I can understand them, they are in a very difficult period. The Prime Minister intends to turn every stone to bring them back. I estimate that within two weeks we will be able to reach a framework for a deal with the captives, while maintaining the security principles that are important to the State of Israel."
Cohen added, "As a result of a very important operation by the IDF and increased military pressure, we see that Hamas is capitulating. There are still a few details to be finalized. I estimate that within two weeks we will be able to conclude those details and put the plan into action."
