How Israel ignored warnings of Hamas attack for at least 7 years

New reports reveal Hamas planned attack for nearly a decade as Israel's spy agencies misread threats. How did a nation renowned for its intelligence prowess miss the signs of impending disaster?

Shocking new reports have unveiled a catastrophic intelligence failure leading up to Hamas' October 7 massacre in southern Israel.

Multiple sources indicate that Israeli intelligence agencies may have overlooked years of warning signs about the impending attack.

Channel 12 News reports that Hamas had been meticulously planning this assault for 7-8 years, contradicting Israeli leadership's assumption that the group, particularly its leader Yahya Sinwar, was focused on economic improvement in Gaza rather than military action.

In a startling revelation, IDF observers witnessed a large-scale Hamas drill on October 3, just days before the attack, which mirrored the eventual assault. This exercise, involving approximately 170 terrorists, was dismissed as routine by security sources.

Further compounding the oversight, a female sergeant from the IDF's elite Unit 8200 sent an urgent email to superiors, noting striking similarities between Hamas' recent drills and their "Jericho Wall" plan, a detailed 40-page playbook outlining the group's strategy to overwhelm Gaza's defenses. This warning, like others, went unheeded.

"We're seeing a perfect storm of intelligence failures," says Dr. Yossi Melman, veteran intelligence correspondent. "From misreading intentions to ignoring clear warning signs, the entire system seems to have broken down."

"This isn't just about past mistakes," warns former Mossad chief Efraim Halevy. "It's about ensuring Israel can prevent future attacks of this magnitude. The entire intelligence community needs a top-to-bottom review."

As investigations continue, the Israeli public and the international community are left wondering: How could so many warning signs have been missed, and what will it take to prevent such a catastrophe from happening again?
