Man poses as an officer - breaks into evacuee apartments in Kiryat Shmona

The suspect, a resident of Eilat, wore a mask, carried an M16 cartridge full of ammunition, posing as an officer in an elite unit.

A 30-year-old resident of Eilat was arrested yesterday (Monday) on suspicion of breaking into several evacuee houses in Kiryat Shmona, following rocket attacks in the city. He impersonated an officer from a special unit in the IDF and carried out his breakins while masked.

His detention was extended until Friday. The investigation by the police of the North District began when a report about an apartment that had been looted in the northern city. Upon receiving the report, an undercover investigation began, at the end of which the police located the suspect.

During a police operation conducted yesterday in the city, the officers identified the suspect getting off a bus that came from the center of the country, wearing an IDF uniform, wearing an officer's rank, and carrying full M16 magazines and a dummy gun.
