Today (Sunday), Melania Trump published a letter calling for political calm following the attempt on former President Trump's life at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Describing her feelings during the attack, she said that "when I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron's life, were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband."

She also said she offered "my sincerest sympathy" to the rally attendees who were killed or wounded in the attack, and then went on to explain at length why it's important for Americans to reunite.
