Sources from the Hamas terrorist organization confirmed to the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat Arabic-language newspaper that Rafaa Salama, the commander of the Hamas Khan Yunis Brigade, was killed in an Israeli airstrike.

These sources refused to confirm or deny reports of Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing, being killed in the strike. The IDF confirmed on Saturday that Deif was targeted in an airstrike.

Senior security sources conveyed to the political echelon that Deif was certainly hit, though final confirmation may "take time," and confirmed the death of the Khan Yunis Brigade commander.

Both Deif and Salama are believed to be architects of the October 7 massacre.
