Reserve soldier killed by Hezbollah rocket is identified

Following yet another Hezbollah attack in the north. It was allowed to be published that Major General Valery Chaponov from Netanya, a reservist, was killed today by the UAV strike in Kabri. His funeral will take place tomorrow at the military cemetery in Netanya.

Israel at war the 279th day. The mayor of Netanya issued a statement of condolence this evening on the death of the city's resident Major General Valery Chaponov, a reservist, who was killed today in the north by a Hezbollah UAV strike in Kabri.

Chaponov left behind a wife and two children. "We bow our heads and share in the deep sorrow of his family and loved ones," wrote Miriam Fierberg-Icher.

Chaponov was a resident of Agamim neighbourhood in Netanya and his funeral will be held tomorrow, Friday, at 1:00 PM at the military cemetery in Netanya.

His relatives and friends ask the people of Israel to come (with a flag) and pay him their last respects. The funeral procession will start at 11:45 from the family home at 7 Hagamim Street in Netanya and will pass through Agam Kinneret Street, Ben Zvi Street to the cemetery on Petah Tikva Street.
