Oops! State Department sanctions the wrong person

The State Department reportedly targeted a person sharing the same name as a Tzav Tesha activist they were aiming at.

Following the State Department's announcement today (Thursday) imposing sanctions on members of Tzav Tesha for allegedly violent conduct disrupting the peace in Judea and Samaria, it turns out sanctions were imposed on an innocent civilian with the same name as one of the movement's leaders, according to Israel Hayom.

Avshalom Sarid, named in the sanctions press release and sharing the same name as one of Tzav Tesha's co-founders and leaders, has been sanctioned despite having no affiliation with the movement.

The Deputy Regional Council leader where the innocent Sarid lives said "we are talking about a resident of Samaria, an active reservist who is not active in the Tzav Tesha organization. His whole 'sin' in quotes is that he has the same name as a Tzav Tesha activist.

"This is an insane issue. Forget that Biden's sanctions are a threat to every citizen and reserve soldier in Israel. Now normal citizens pay a price for American slopiness."
