A Fly Dubai flight landed last night (Wednesday) in an unplanned fashion in Pakistan, which is defined as a country hostile to Israel. As of this moment, the reason for the unplanned landing is unknown, but apparently it was an emergency landing.
The plane, which was carrying Israelis, stayed in Pakistan for almost two hours and then took off for Colombo in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan is defined by Israel as a high-risk country and it is absolutely forbidden to land in its territory. Other countries in this category are Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Syria and a few others. The Foreign Ministry website states: "The travel warnings do not apply to a stay in the country for the purpose of a transit flight (connection), except for transit flights in enemy countries (Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Yemen) and countries with a high threat level such as Libya, Algeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Somalia. Also, when planning the trip abroad, it is recommended to make sure that the chosen flight route does not pass over enemy countries (including Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Yemen and Iraq) and countries with a high threat level and which do not maintain relations with Israel, as mentioned: Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, Pakistan and Algeria."
