The leaders of the Haredi community are preparing a joint letter calling on all draft-eligible Haredi men receiving draft notices to refuse to present to the IDF, according to Kikar Hashabbat reporter Yishai Cohen.

This decision comes as Defense Minister Gallant formally agreed with the IDF to issue the first draft notices to Haredi young men, after the Supreme Court ruling requiring that they all be drafted by law.

The IDF itself is divided on how many they intend to draft this year, with many estimating it at no more than 3,000 and possibly fewer.

Nevertheless, the very issuing of draft notices has, as noted, sparked an effort to directly clash with the army.
