Defence Minister Yoav Galant received today (Tuesday) the IDF recommendations and decided that summonses for initial notices will be sent to the ultra-Orthodox community in the near future, starting next month.

Defence Minister received IDF recommendations and approved sending initial notices to members of the ultra-Orthodox sector in the coming month: Galant emphasized that notices will be sent to those who are not studying in yeshiva.

The decision was made during the discussion on the readiness of the security system for the recruitment of members of the ultra-Orthodox sector with the participation of the Defence Minister, the Chief of Staff, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Eliezer Shkedi, and Chief Military Secretary Major General Yaniv Asor.

At the end of the discussion, Defence Minister Yoav Glantz approved the IDF's recommendation to issue notices for the screening and assessment process (first notices) of recruits from the ultra-Orthodox sector in the coming month, according to the intake and screening capabilities, and after a significant refinement process of the existing data regarding potential recruits.

The Defence Minister also concluded that during the coming month, a dedicated awareness campaign will be launched for the ultra-Orthodox population, outlining tailored paths for military service in the IDF according to the recommendations of the "Shkedi Committee".

The Defence Minister and the Chief of Staff agreed in the discussion that this is an operational necessity and a complex social issue, and action should be taken according to the principle of "successful recruitment" to achieve significant participation of members of the ultra-Orthodox sector in an organized process. However, according to reports in Israel Today, Galant's circle have emphasized that notices will be sent to those who are not studying in yeshiva.
