Nine months after the outbreak of the war, the IDF will publicize its inquiry into the battle for Kibbutz Be'eri on October 7.
The IDF understands that the reliability and transparency of the investigation is a test for them, and will be nothing like anything they've had to present before - all while ensuring privacy is properly respected.
Be'eri, the largest community on the Gaza Perimeter, is a particularly complex case, as many incidents took place during the day involving the IDF, Shin Bet and Yamam. In addition, the incident involving hostages held up in a private home will be presented.
Maj.-Gen. Micky Edelstein has done very impressive work: hundreds of hours of getting into details, dozens of investigations of commanders and families. And there are additional complementary details which he is doing together with members of the community and other families.
The investigation will be presented first to the families and the communities. The Personell Directorate will send representatives and officers to the 23 bereaved families so they can go over the material. The investigation is then expected to be presented to the press on Thursday. At the same time, the findings will be available on the IDF's website so the public can look at them directly, all based on careful adherence to information security.
