Efforts to form a new center-right party uniting Avigdor Liberman's party, Naftali Bennet, Yossi Cohen, and Gideon Saar have foundered over a debate regarding who should lead the party - Bennet or Liberman.

According to an interview granted by MK Zeev Elkin to Radio 90FM: "The formation of the new national liberal party is being delayed due to the struggle between Bennet and Liberman (regarding) who will be at the head."

This report comes as parties on the right and left are preparing for the coming elections, including the recent merger between Labour and Meretz on the left, which improved both parties fortunes, going from both barely passing the electoral threshold on their own to getting 10 seats combined.
