Heartbreaking: another fallen soldier in Gaza has been identified

On Wednesday, the IDF announced the death of Captain Elay Elisha Lugasi, 21, from Kiryat Shmona. He served as a team commander in the 75th Battalion of the 7th Armoured Brigade and was killed by an anti-tank missile in Gaza City's Shijaiyah neighbourhood.

Three more soldiers from the 75th Battalion and 7th Brigade were also wounded. Commander (Cdr.) IDF reported on Wednesday night that Elay Elisha Lugasi, a 21-year-old Team Commander from Kiryat Shmona in the 75th Battalion and 7th Brigade, died in combat in the northern Gaza Strip.

Terrorists attacked an IDF tank in the north of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday by launching anti-tank missiles, resulting in the death of Captain Lugasi and injuries to three other soldiers from the 75th Battalion and 7th Brigade.

The soldiers were taken to the hospital for medical treatment and their families have been informed. Honoring those who have died.

Avichai Stern, the Mayor of Kiryat Shmona, honoured him as a hero of Israel, noting that Elay was injured early in the war but insisted on re-joining the fight after recovering at home for weeks.

His death marks 676 IDF soldiers who have lost their lives Since the beginning of the war, with 322 fatalities occurring during the ground operations in Gaza.
