Prime Minister Netanyahu is reportedly furious at learning from the press about the release of the Shifa Hospital director, according to Channel 12 reporter Amit Segal.

According to the Prime Minister's Office, the decision on when and how to release prisoners is done independently by the Shin Bet, and that the Prime Minister himself ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter. Netanyahu is reportedly furious at not being informed of this decision.

The Shin Bet issued a statement today in response (Monday), stating that they had warned repeatedly of the prison crowding conditions leading to the constant release of prisoners to make room for more, but they had received no response, including from the National Security Minister in charge of prisons.

The Shin Bet further stated that although the Shifa Hospital director reportedly met the necessary criteria for release under these conditions regarding the danger he posed, "the event will be investigated."
