Following Spain, Norway, and Ireland's announcements of recognizing a Palestinian state, Armenia also declared its recognition, joining 146 UN countries that support Palestinian statehood today (Friday).

A statement issued by the Armenian Foreign Ministry reads: "Armenia has always supported a peaceful solution to the Palestinian problem, and a two-state solution. We are convinced that this is the only way to ensure the fulfillment of the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians and Israelis. Based on the commitment to international law and the principles of equality, sovereignty and coexistence, Armenia Sale in the State of Palestine".

Following Armenia's move, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Armenian ambassador to Israel to be reprimanded.
