Following the IDF's announcement that it will allow a daily humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich attacked the IDF General Staff's ability to make sensible decisions.

Smotrich's post on X stated: "A few words about the delusional announcement of this morning's report about the "humanitarian pause" in Rafah: The manner in which the humanitarian effort in the Gaza Strip is being managed, in the framework of which aid goes largely to Hamas and helps it to continue civilian control of the Strip in direct contradiction to the goals of the war, has been bad throughout the last few months. It was bad before and it's bad now, and for months now I've been warning above all else that this is one of the reasons for the continuation of the war and the resounding strategic failure that is liable to undo the incredible professionalism and tactical successes of the fighters and field commanders."

Smotrich continued his attack stating: "The Chief of Staff and the Defense Minister have been firmly refusing to acknowledge for six months now that the only true path to victory is the occupation of the Gaza Strip and the establishment of a temporary military government in it, until the complete destruction of Hamas. Unfortunately Prime Minister Netanyahu is either unwilling or unable to impose this on them."
