As reported by i24 News, in an interview with CNN released today (Friday), Hamas spokesperson Osama Hamdan acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the status of the hostages held by Hamas. "No one has any idea about that," he stated. He alleged that last week's military operation aimed at rescuing four hostages on Saturday resulted in the deaths of three others, including an American citizen.

Not only did Hamdan defend Hamas' actions on October 7th, but he also criticized the latest proposal for not meeting Hamas' conditions. He insisted on a clear commitment to a permanent ceasefire, a full withdrawal from Gaza, and the lifting of the siege. He also called for Palestinians to have the autonomy to determine their future, including reconstruction efforts. "We are ready to talk about a fair deal regarding the prisoners exchange," he added.

He further condemned Israel's stance on the ceasefire, stating, "The Israelis want the ceasefire only for six weeks and then they want to go back to the fight. The Americans have not yet convinced the Israelis to accept a permanent ceasefire."

Hamdan claimed that it was blatantly false that Yahya Sinwar had labeled Palestinian civilian casualties as "necessary sacrifices."

As the situation in Gaza remains tense, the international community continues to watch closely, with many hoping for a resolution that will bring lasting peace to the region.
